D’Incao Institute of Education — application overview.

Application Video

Institutional Overview

The D’Incao Institute of Education is located in the countryside of São Paulo state, Brazil. Today, we have around 700 students from elementary to high school, all learning in a 1:1 iPad environment. We are committed to a humanistic educational model that brings out the full potential of each student — supported by a highly qualified teaching team and the most powerful learning tool available: the iPad. From the very beginning, we have integrated technologies that enable a richer, more engaging, and more meaningful learning experience for students. In addition, we build upon four other pillars that form what we call our “constellation of virtues” in the educational universe: outstanding teachers, exceptional learning resources, personalized learning, and active pedagogies.

Guiding Principles

D’Incao believes in using technology as a tool for transforming and shaping the individual. To achieve this, we have established an ongoing process of teacher training and development. Teachers are the ones who drive change in any educational environment — which is why we trust them, believe in them, and provide them with the tools they need for professional growth. The integration of technology and education prepares young people to become successful global citizens. Grounded in cultural, ethical, and intellectual pursuits, combined with meaningful production across all areas of knowledge, education thus fulfills its ultimate purpose: to provide young people with experiences that enable them to actively participate in their world and commit to a consistent practice of transcending our social reality through collective action.

Learning

Learning is the fundamental foundation of our school. We offer students opportunities for active learning. Through active pedagogies, we create a safe and inspiring space where learning can take place. The “Classroom” app has allowed us to maximize opportunities for individualized learning, as well as guided and small-group instruction. This has resulted in a significant improvement in student learning, as evidenced by improved ENEM scores in 2025 compared to previous years. We must provide multiple learning pathways that are multimodal and multisensory so that our students can achieve deep learning.

As part of our school mission, students have developed environmental projects such as the conservation of riparian forests in our city. They measured the impact of the non-preservation of riparian forests and presented their findings to propose a solution to one of the problems encountered during their research. In 2026, teachers are developing a multidisciplinary project combining curricular components with coding.

Another important aspect is the integration of Racial Justice Guides into various subjects, such as Physics, History, Sociology, and Philosophy.

Collaboration plays a key role in our school. Students create projects using collaboration features in iWork, breaking down the barriers of space and time and maximizing the potential of a blank page — through concept development, prototype sketches, recording their ideas, narrating, or animating their imagination.

Outcomes and Impact

Student outcomes are measured primarily by performance on the national examination (ENEM) and on university entrance assessments. Since 2017, data has assumed a progressively significant role at D’Incao. Recognizing that the systematic measurement of student growth and academic performance enables the identification of learning needs and comprehension gaps that must be addressed, we developed a proprietary application. A deeper understanding of our students’ learning difficulties was required, and one of the key answers was found through learning analytics. Furthermore, the success of our educational project may also be discerned in the transformation of students upon completion of the educational process. Evidence of development can be observed across multiple dimensions, as students increasingly emerge as more critical, insightful, and socially engaged digital citizens.

Future Directions

In the future, D’Incao intends to continue improving university admission rates, as well as the ongoing professional development of its teachers through the Apple Teacher Portfolio. We will work on the development of our application to enable real-time learning analytics and student engagement data. In doing so, we will be able to deepen our understanding of how students learn and engage with technology. We will initiate a strategy to expand the use of technology in supporting interdisciplinary projects with a socio-environmental focus, in addition to broadening the integration of Apple’s coding programs across all school subjects.
